The Isabella Pond Wetlands Project involved the introduction of two large wetlands into the existing waterway in Bonython, ACT.

MADE LA partnered with Alluvium Consulting and the ACT Government to bring this project to life. While the primary goal was to reduce nutrients and sediments, MADE LA worked closely with the design team to develop a diverse range of riparian, macrophyte, and aquatic vegetation zones. These zones included various habitats—ephemeral, shallow, deep marshes, submerged marshes, and open water—mimicking natural systems. The variety of water depths and inundation periods allowed for the selection of a wider range of native plants, which play a crucial role in nutrient removal and water quality improvement.

The wetlands have since become a popular local destination, known for their scenic beauty and birdwatching opportunities. MADE LA also designed rock jetties along the pond margins, serving as focal points for visitors to enjoy views of the wetlands while providing natural play areas for children to explore and climb the large boulders.

In addition, MADE LA oversaw construction surveillance, including managing water inundation strategies, protecting plantings with bird netting, pre-ordering native plant stock, coordinating seasonal propagation, addressing weed control, and management of 96,000 plants throughout the project.
